I love my job & enjoy dealing with the general public, well most of the time anyway. However I do get to see how some people are really struggling out there. Most of you know I love a chat & thankfully a lot of people are willing to open up & I think it is all of our jobs to keep an eye on each other. Sometimes we just need to ask if everything is ok, listen & offer a tissue or a cup of coffee. Sometimes it maybe something more & I recently saw a Beyond Blue article & it characterised depression as some of the following:
- Withdrawing from family & friends
- Losing interest or enjoyment in hobbies
- Feeling an inability to concentrate
- Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated or irritable
- Feeling tired all the time
- Having suicidal thoughts
- Disrupted sleep
- Significant weight loss or gain
- Headaches & muscle pain
For those that may notice that they are suffering from some of these I suggest that you see your GP or maybe if you’re not ready for that go to the Beyond Blue website where there are some great resources, guides & ideas.

In general if we all took a little more notice & cared a little more, we could help someone through a tough time. You never really know what is going on in someone’s life.
